The Children of Green Knowe
The BBC adaptation of The Children of Green Knowe was based on the book written by Lucy M Boston in 1954 (Click here to visit the home and history of the house where she lived (thanks to Fiona)). The four part children's drama story was originally shown in 1986 on BBC1 starting Wednesday 26th November at 17:00 (after Newsround) and finishing 17th December of that year. There were repeats of the story shown on BBC2 television on a Sunday morning 11:20 (Thankyou to Radiotimes magazine). The Children of Green Knowe was the first in a series of books by Lucy M Boston, some of the others are shown below - scans of books, I have. Only The Children of Green Knowe was actually adapted for television.
Please accept apologies fior the poor images that have been used for this Little Gem. The video material I had access to was nearly 20 years old and had drop outs at several places. Hopefully it will not spoil the story too much.
The Children of Green Knowe concerns the story of a young boy called Tolly (his real name was Toseland - you can see why he preferred the short version). Unbeknown to Tolly a letter sent by his grandmother is about to have a magical effect on this shy little boy.
