From the ballet Spartacus (Aram Khachaturian)

Patricia who I helped produce The Onedin Line website is no longer able to manage the pages and has transferred them over to Little Gems. Hence I will continue the work started by her in 2000.

The Onedin Line was one of the best BBC dramas to come out of the 1970s. I seem to remember it being on BBC1 on a Sunday night at around 19:00-20:00. At that time my children were still at primary / secondary school and hence had school the next morning. It was usually the last television program they were allowed to stay up and watch before bed. Young people couldn't appreciate the excellent scripting, filming and superb acting abilities of the ambitious Captain James Onedin and his intelligent, hard working and loyal wife Anne. I have only presented some of the episodes here as there were quite a few. More will follow in time and if anyone was involved in the acting or the filming, I would love to hear from you and to place your thoughts about the Onedin Line on this page. The superb music that was used to introduce this wonderful BBC1 drama was from the ballet Spartacus the composer of which was Aram Khachaturian. Khachaturian was one the most distinguished of contemporary Soviet (as it was) composers. Gayaneh (1942) and Spartacus (1956) proved the most popular of his works.
