The Magic Ball - The Story of the Chimneysweep

Sam was at Aunt Mill's shop and sitting on the floor reading about the terrible life that chimneysweeps endured. He was very angry to hear that they got very little pay and no holidays. Before he could even say anything, the Magic Ball took him to where the little chimneysweep lived. There Sam found the poor chimneysweep who explained his problem.

Sam decided to go with him and look for himself as to what the problem was. Sure enough, at the first house they stopped at, the person who lived inside was very unfriendly. The poor sweep and to clean the chimney and got everything covered in soot. The Magic Ball instantly sprang into action and cleaned everywhere. The Ball then cleaned each and every chimney in the little town.

The little sweep was overjoyed as it meant he could take his first ever day off and see some of things he had been missing. He watched a parade going down the street and then took part in it himself. He later went down to the seaside, a place he had never been before.

There they met an organ grinder with a performing monkey. They had a lot of fun watching the creature. The then decided to go down to the beach and change into their swimming costumes. they went out into the sea for a splash. The chimneysweep saw a huge sailing ship and everyone clapped and cheered when they saw it as it was the newest and fastest ship in the fleet. Sam told the chimneysweep of even faster ships called rockets. The chimneysweep could hardly believe his ears.

The pair then went onto the warm sand and built a huge sand castle. they then floated a small wooden boat and had a great load of fun. Pretty soon the Magic Ball activated and Sam found himself back in the shop. The page in the book had, as expected, changed and the little sweep was there in his swimming costume having a day of fun on the beach.

At the back of the shop Aunt Mill appeared and asked Sam "where had he been ?" to which Sam replied "Nowhere much."
