The Magic Ball - The Story of the Grandfather Clock

It was night time. Outside the shop it was very quiet and the Sun had gone to bed. The Moon was out and shone down on the little antique shop. Inside the shop, Sam was sitting on a stool in the living room with Aunt Mill sitting in a chair beside the fire. Sam was reading a small book, everywhere was quiet, not a sound could be heard apart from the ticking of the large Grandfather clock on the stairs. Suddenly the clock stopped ticking, breaking everyone's concentration. Sam went off to investigate upstairs. He found that the clock had indeed stopped but he was unsure why. The Magic Ball flashed and glowed and turned Sam into a very tiny person. Sam then flew into the clock through the small key hole. Inside Sam gazed at all the machinery not knowing where to start.

Whilst walking around inside the large clock, Sam was amazed to come across some others arguing about the clock. He said hello to them and asked who they were. Quentin was the clock supervisor and Crispen was the clock maintenance engineer (only in training though). The real head of the clock was called Cosmo but he was nowhere to be found.

Crispen wanted to have a go at fixing the clock but Quentin would not allow him. Finally after Sam said he owned the clock and he did not mind, Crispen was given a go. Crispen thought long and hard and then set to work. Much banging, parts flying and springs boinging later, there was a very large explosion.

The clock started to work but it was going backwards and Quentin and Crispen started to get younger. Just as they became babies, the Magic Ball intervened and put everything right. Quentin was very angry but before he could do anything Crispen had a another go and this time the clock went forward and the tow of them aged rapidly. Again the Magic Ball saved the day and Quentin told Crispen to leave the fixing to Cosmo but where was he.

While they were chatting, they thought they could hear the sound of snoring. Up high on a cog was Cosmo fast asleep. The Magic Ball brought him safely down and then Cosmo set about starting the clock. After all they had been through, the clock simply needed winding up

They were all very relived to see the clock finally working and has a long dance to celebrate. Sam soon found himself back at the top of the stairs just as Aunt Mill came along.
"Did you wind it" she said
"Sort of" said Sam and he smiled
