The Magic Ball - The Story of the Six Winged Lions

Inside Aunt Mill's shop Sam had found an old plate. The plate looked as though it had come from China and had a picture of a nasty looking warrior stamping on a poor soldier. The nasty warrior appeared to be being helped by six flying lions. That really annoyed Sam and again the Magic ball agreed with him as it instantly took him to a faraway place. The landscape was weird but colourful and Sam decided to have a look round. He soon came across a battle taking place on a large field below. The tow opposing side were going at it like nobody's business. One side started to get the upper hand but was soon defeated after the arrival of some flying lions which breathed fire. The troops fled in terror at the sight of these winged demons.

Sam later went down to see the defeated army. They were sitting on the ground totally demoralised. They had been winning until the lions arrived. Sam chatted to the Prince about what they were fighting about. The Prince told of of the evil King and how he had captured the Princess and had her locked up. The winged lions were part of his army and with them no one could defeat him. The Prince thought they needed the help of a wizard called Lapsang but he lived many leagues away. Sam offered to go and fetch him and the Magic Ball transformed into a huge balloon into which Sam climbed. Sam was carried far over the mountains in search of the mystical Lapsang.

Sam eventually found the right place and had to walk through a dark tunnel filled with weird and dangerous looking creatures. He eventually emerged at the other end finding Lapsang having troubles of his own. A huge dragon knocked the man over a bridge and into the water. Sam went to his help with the Magic Ball. Lapsang was vert grateful for the Ball's help and listened to what Sam had to say. Lapsang then made up a special powder that was to be sprinkled over the lions as they slept.

Sam left the old man and followed the instructions to the letter. As soon as the powder touched the lions, they instantly turned to stone. Now they would not be able to help the evil King. Later that day the evil King was defeated in battle and fled. The Prince was reunited with the Princess and everyone was happy. As always, Sam returned to his Aunt's shop to where the plate now showed a very different picture on it. A happy Prince was now in the centre of the plate.

"oh, and where have you been?" asked Aunt Mill as she saw Sam was back.
Sam replied "Nowhere much." and smiled at her.
